The spokesperson to Kano State Governor, Sanusi Bature, has alleged that former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is secretly working to support President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Bature made the allegation on Wednesday while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he also accused Kwankwaso of political inconsistency and confusion over his alliances.
According to him, the former presidential candidate had moved across different political camps in search of relevance despite previously criticising some of the same political figures he is now engaging.
“Kwankwaso is getting confused. Somebody who said he does not believe in Yoruba presidency has been moving from Abeokuta to Ibadan seeking political fortune,” Bature said.
The governor’s aide alleged that Kwankwaso had held consultations with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in a bid to build political alliances.
He further claimed that after efforts to work with Makinde failed, Kwankwaso turned to former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi despite previously criticising him.
Bature also alleged that Kwankwaso had directed Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf to engage Tinubu on possible political cooperation and a potential defection to the All Progressives Congress before later changing course.
According to him, Kwankwaso’s political moves would ultimately benefit Tinubu’s second-term ambition, insisting that the former governor had also indirectly aided Tinubu’s victory during the 2023 presidential election.
The former APC chieftain maintained that while some politicians openly support Tinubu, others work behind the scenes, adding that Kwankwaso belongs to the latter category.
