Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State have called on President Bola Tinubu and the national leadership of the party to intervene over alleged irregularities during the party’s direct primaries in the state.
The stakeholders, operating under the umbrella of the Ekiti Network of Asiwaju Youths, said urgent action was needed to prevent a crisis that could affect the APC’s chances in future elections.
In an open letter addressed to Tinubu, the group accused certain party leaders in the state of manipulating the primary process, particularly in Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, which covers Ido-Osi, Ilejemeje and Moba local government areas.
The group alleged that results were written in some wards where voting reportedly did not take place.
The letter, signed by the group’s coordinator, AbdulRaman Agboola, and secretary, Daniel Fatoriji, claimed that several wards considered strongholds of House of Representatives member Akinlayo Kolawole recorded no voting activity during the exercise.
According to the stakeholders, even in areas where elections allegedly held and genuine results emerged, the outcomes were changed before final declaration in Ado Ekiti.
“We are raising this alarm because we are the nucleus of the party in Ekiti State,” the group stated.
The stakeholders warned that failure to address the situation could create discontent among party members ahead of the general elections.
They appealed to Tinubu and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda to investigate the allegations and restore confidence in the party’s internal democratic process.
The group maintained that the alleged actions were contrary to the ideals of the APC and urged the party leadership to act quickly to prevent further division within the state chapter.
