The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday.
According to the statement, Aina is an expert in digital systems, examination administration and institutional reforms with years of experience in technology and education management.
The new JAMB registrar studied Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security as well as a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.
He also attended the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
Aina currently serves as a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
The presidency noted that his involvement with examination administration began during his National Youth Service at JAMB, where he gained experience in admissions and data management.
Over the years, he has reportedly worked with examination bodies including NECO and NABTEB, while also advising federal and state governments on digital transformation and institutional reforms.
At 39, Aina became one of Nigeria’s youngest professors in Computer Engineering and is now set to become the youngest registrar in the history of JAMB.
He is also a member of several professional bodies, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would build on the achievements of Oloyede and strengthen JAMB through innovation and administrative reforms.
