National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Bashiru, has distanced the party from individuals making derogatory comments about civil servants in Osun State, insisting that such remarks do not reflect the party’s position.
Bashiru made the clarification during a meeting with former Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) officials in Osogbo, where he emphasized the APC’s respect for public servants and their contributions to governance.
According to him, individuals who have publicly criticized workers in the state were expressing personal opinions and were not acting on behalf of the party.
“Civil servants are enlightened members of society who play critical roles in governance and community development. They deserve respect and should not be insulted in the name of politics,” he said.
The APC chieftain appealed to workers not to hold the party responsible for comments made by individuals acting independently, stressing that the APC values and appreciates the contributions of civil servants.
Bashiru also urged party members to remain focused on grassroots mobilisation, reconciliation, and unity ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
He warned against complacency, noting that electoral success can only be achieved through hard work and effective engagement with voters across all wards and polling units.
The APC National Secretary further called on stakeholders within the party to unite behind its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, and work collectively toward securing victory at the polls.
He cautioned party members against internal divisions, emphasizing that unity and cooperation remain essential for the APC’s electoral success in the state.
The remarks come as political activities intensify ahead of the Osun governorship election, with major parties stepping up consultations and campaign efforts across the state.
