The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has announced Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
Obi made the announcement on Saturday shortly after being officially confirmed as the NDC’s presidential candidate for the forthcoming general election.
The development comes after both Obi and Kwankwaso left the African Democratic Congress, citing internal disputes and ongoing legal challenges within the party.
The Obi-Kwankwaso ticket is expected to strengthen the NDC’s position ahead of the 2027 election, combining Obi’s support base in the South-East and among urban voters with Kwankwaso’s strong political influence in Northern Nigeria.
Party leaders described the alliance as a strategic move aimed at presenting a united opposition front ahead of the presidential contest.
