The Nigeria Democratic Congress has dismissed various results from its recent nationwide primaries circulating on social media, insisting that only the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) has the authority to officially announce the outcomes.
In a statement released on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, urged members and the public to disregard unofficial results, stressing that the authentic results remain in the custody of the NEC.
According to him, the party leadership has scheduled an emergency NEC meeting in Abuja to review and ratify the outcomes of the primaries held on May 28 and 29 ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, convened on the directive of Seriake Dickson, will begin with a pre-NEC session on June 2, while the main NEC meeting is set for June 3.
The party explained that the official list of successful candidates would only be released after the NEC completes its ratification process and before submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The clarification comes amid widespread speculation and conflicting reports regarding the outcome of the party’s primaries, including discussions surrounding the affirmation of Peter Obi as the party’s presidential candidate.
NDC assured stakeholders that all legitimate results would be made public through official party channels once the necessary internal procedures have been concluded.
