APC National Chairman to Welcome Key ADC Defectors, Signals Growing Political Realignments

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has announced that the ruling party is set to receive several prominent politicians from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the coming week.

Speaking at a meeting with Plateau State APC stakeholders held at Crest Hotel, Jos, on Friday, Yilwatda revealed that several notable ADC figures, including some returning from other opposition parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have completed party processes and will be officially unveiled as new APC members.

Yilwatda emphasized that this influx of defectors is a testament to the strength and healthy state of the APC, describing it as free from any internal discord and fully capable of managing defections and expectations.

“Next week, I will be receiving some notable figures from the ADC. Some who had earlier defected from the PDP to the ADC are now returning to APC. Many have passed their ‘medicals’ and will be officially unveiled,” he confirmed.

Therefore, highlighting the political significance, he also mentioned that among the incoming defectors are senators and governors who have indicated interest in joining the APC fold. The party is preparing to officially receive these new members during an event scheduled for October 30th, 2025, with the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, slated to officially welcome them.

The APC leadership further affirmed its commitment to equal treatment for newcomers and long-standing members alike, ensuring a cohesive and united front ahead of the 2027 elections. Plateau State APC leaders echoed this sentiment, reiterating the party’s unity and readiness to win elections.

This sweeping move underscores ongoing political realignments as opposition figures gravitate towards the ruling party, bolstering APC’s footing ahead of upcoming electoral contests and reinforcing its political dominance nationwide.
