The House of Representatives Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions has summoned the Provosts of the Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan, and the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River, for failing to submit their 2024 and 2025 capital budget proposals as required by law.
In a letter dated October 21, 2025, and signed by the Committee Clerk, Mr. Adelani Sunday, the lawmakers expressed disappointment over the colleges’ disregard for previous invitations and their absence at earlier scheduled meetings.
The letter, titled “Re: Request for Submission of 2024 and 2025 Capital Budget and Invitation for a Meeting,” emphasized that the budget submissions are crucial for determining the institutions’ 2026 appropriations.
Part of the correspondence read:
“The Committee has not received your submissions on the subject matter, and you did not appear before the Committee on the day allotted to your agency. You are hereby reminded that your appearance and submission of these vital documents are essential for the Committee’s consideration of your institution’s 2026 appropriation.”
The Committee has therefore directed the Provosts of both institutions, along with their Directors of Procurement and Finance, to appear before it on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Conference Room 028, located in the House of Representatives’ New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
It further warned that failure to comply with the summons could result in the exclusion of their institutions’ capital projects from the 2026 national budget. The Committee stressed the importance of legislative oversight and full cooperation from all federal education agencies to ensure transparency and accountability in public spending.
