Aloy Ejimakor, special counsel to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, collapsed at Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja, just a day after a magistrate refused to sign his bail bond.
Ejimakor reportedly could not sit or stand on his own and is currently receiving care from prison nurses. Sources indicate he may be transferred to a hospital due to the severity of his condition.
He was arrested on Monday alongside 12 others, including Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, during a #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest. The group was allegedly teargassed, beaten, and detained overnight at the SARS “Abattoir” cell before being taken to the Kuje Magistrate Court without legal representation.
Despite bail being granted by Senior Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id, the magistrate reportedly failed to sign the necessary bail bonds, keeping Ejimakor and the others in detention. Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore was also arraigned with them.
Ejimakor remains under medical supervision as concerns grow over his deteriorating health.
