The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that eight political associations have successfully advanced in their bid for official registration as political parties.
In a statement released on Thursday, October 30, 2025, and signed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, the Commission disclosed that the development follows the completion of the document upload phase, which lasted from September 18 to October 18, 2025.
According to INEC, eight out of fourteen pre-qualified associations met all documentation requirements. They include:
All Democratic Alliance (ADA)
Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA)
Abundance Social Party (ASP)
African Alliance Party (AAP)
Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA)
Green Future Party (GFP)
National Democratic Party (NDP)
Peoples Freedom Party (PFP)
Olumekun stated that the next stage in the registration process would involve a detailed assessment and verification of the submitted documents to ensure full compliance with the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and INEC’s 2022 Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties.
“The next step in the registration process is the detailed assessment and verification of the information and documents submitted by each association. This stage will ensure conformity with the provisions of the law and the Commission’s regulations,” the statement read.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and the deepening of Nigeria’s democratic culture, emphasizing that due process remains central to the registration exercise.
The update follows INEC’s earlier announcement on September 11, 2025, regarding the ongoing registration process for new political parties.
