In a decisive offensive on Friday, October 31st, 2025, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army destroyed a major bandits’ camp and recovered weapons during a clearance operation in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State. The operation was conducted under the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, following credible intelligence on the activities of bandits terrorizing communities around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages.
Acting on fresh intelligence received at Kofar Ahmadu village, the troops advanced towards TY Farm in Tati through Sabon Gida Tati, where they encountered the bandits. Following a fierce exchange, the bandits fled into the forest after facing stiff resistance from the soldiers.
Upon securing the area, the troops discovered and destroyed a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm, effectively denying the criminals a safe haven. The operation yielded one Dane gun and other items recovered from the site.Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, commended the troops for their swift response, gallantry, and professionalism during the operation. He reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to maintaining peace and security throughout Taraba State and called on residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing military efforts.
This clearance operation is part of a sustained campaign to rid Taraba State of bandits and terrorist elements, with additional patrols continuing across other identified flashpoints within the state.
