On Thursday, 6th, November, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu swore in two newly appointed ministers, Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro and Mr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh during a brief ceremony at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja. This event marked the first Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting since July 2025.
Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro, a pharmacist and lawyer from Plateau State, was sworn in to fill the vacancy left by Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who now serves as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Doro’s nomination had been confirmed by the Senate in late October. He is expected to continue the ministry’s efforts on poverty alleviation, social safety nets, and humanitarian support nationwide. Both Doro and his predecessor hail from Plateau State, maintaining regional balance in the cabinet.
Mr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from Enugu State, took the oath to become the Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technology. Udeh replaces Mr. Uche Nnaji, who resigned earlier this year following allegations of certificate forgery. Udeh’s appointment was confirmed by the Senate after a brief screening session during plenary on the same day. Prior to this federal appointment, he served as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State, earning recognition for his reform-driven approach to legal administration.
Following the swearing-in, President Tinubu presided over the FEC meeting which commenced immediately. The meeting featured top government officials including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Head of the Civil Service, Mrs. Esther Didi Walson-Jack; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila; and National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, alongside other ministers and special advisers. The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, presented a report on the state of the economy.
President Tinubu emphasized the administration’s focus on cabinet stability and expressed determination to confront national challenges effectively. This inauguration raised his cabinet’s size to 48 members, signaling a reinvigorated executive arm moving forward to deliver on policy goals and governance commitments
