Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign following a violent attack on Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, Eruku in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The incident, which occurred around 6 p.m. on November 18, resulted in multiple kidnappings and at least one confirmed death, according to the Kwara State Police Command.
Eyewitnesses reported that armed assailants stormed the church during a service, leading to panic among worshippers. Local vigilantes and security personnel intervened, eventually forcing the attackers to flee, but not before significant loss of life and property.
Reacting on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Falz condemned the federal government’s handling of Nigeria’s worsening security situation. He questioned how many more citizens must be kidnapped or murdered before decisive action is taken and accused the President of demonstrating unwillingness to protect lives and property.
“How many more lives do you want to waste? How many more futures do you wish to erase with your inaction?” Falz wrote, emphasizing the repeated failures of government authorities in responding to violent attacks.
Falz concluded his post with a direct call for the President’s resignation:
“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”
The incident highlights ongoing governance and security challenges in Nigeria and raises urgent questions about state responsibility, citizen protection, and legal accountability in the face of rising banditry.
