The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Youth Province 1, in collaboration with other youth provinces across Lagos, has spent N40 million on its annual free bus-to-work initiative, providing morning and evening transportation for commuters.
The programme, which ran from November 24 to December 5, aimed to ease the burden of rising transportation costs amid increasing living expenses in the country. About 10 buses were deployed to ferry hundreds of passengers daily along key routes, including RCCG Jesus Palace (Festac) to CMS, Oworonshoki to CMS, Redemption City to 7UP, Redemption City to Sagamu, Redemption City to Trinity Towers (VI), Redemption City to Agege, and Ikorodu to Maryland. Evening trips were provided free for return journeys.
Pastor Oluwagbemileke Adeboye, Pastor-in-Charge of Youth Province 1, said the initiative was designed to support residents and relieve daily commuting stress. “We observed the positive impact of this project last year, so we continued it this year in collaboration with Youth Provinces 2, 7, 14, 18, and 20. The buses also provide an opportunity to share God’s Word and pray with commuters, regardless of tribe or religion,” he added.
The programme is part of RCCG Youth Province 1’s broader community outreach, alongside preparations for the upcoming Holy Ghost Congress in the second week of December. Beneficiaries have taken to social media to express gratitude for the support, with many praising the initiative for its financial and spiritual benefits.
The free bus service, now in its second year, reflects RCCG’s ongoing efforts to cushion the effects of inflation and improve the daily lives of Lagos and Ogun residents.
