A former Commissioner for Information in Edo State and prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Charles Idahosa, has died at the age of 72.
Idahosa, who served in the Lucky Igbinedion administration, reportedly passed away on Saturday. Although the family is yet to issue an official statement, a close family source confirmed the development.
According to the source, Idahosa appeared healthy earlier in the day and had gone about his usual routine before his sudden passing, describing the incident as shocking.
Fondly known as Akakasiaka and Charlie Tempo, the late politician was known for his outspoken nature and strong influence within the APC. He also served as Political Adviser to former Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, for eight years.
Reacting to the news, the immediate past governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, expressed deep sorrow over Idahosa’s death. In a condolence message, Obaseki described him as a distinguished son of Edo State and a respected leader from the Edo South Senatorial District who served the state in several capacities.
Obaseki noted that he shared a long personal relationship with the late politician, adding that their families, schooling, and place of worship connected them closely, making the loss particularly painful.
He extended his condolences to the Idahosa and Oshodin families, as well as friends, associates, and the people of Edo South, while praying for strength to bear the loss.
