Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical has commenced the nationwide sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations.
The refinery said the initiative marks a major step in its effort to provide affordable fuel for Nigerians and stabilise the downstream petroleum market. With more than 2,000 MRS stations spread across the country, the new price is expected to be uniformly implemented nationwide.
In a statement, Dangote Refinery commended marketers that have already reflected the reduced price at the pumps and urged others to comply in support of Nigeria’s economic recovery.
“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We urge others to do the same in the interest of national economic recovery,” the statement said.
The refinery noted that fuel scarcity and price hikes are common during the festive season, but described the current price reduction as a decisive intervention aimed at easing hardship for consumers during the holidays.
It disclosed that the initiative is backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, a move expected to significantly improve fuel availability nationwide.
By refining petroleum products locally at scale, the refinery said it is reducing Nigeria’s exposure to volatile international markets, conserving foreign exchange, stabilising the naira, and strengthening the country’s energy security.
Dangote Refinery also warned against attempts by some operators to create artificial scarcity in reaction to the price cut, calling on regulatory agencies to remain vigilant and enforce compliance.
“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unacceptable and unpatriotic. Regulatory authorities must take firm action against such practices, especially during this festive period,” the refinery said.
Consumers were advised not to purchase fuel at inflated prices when cheaper alternatives are available. The refinery encouraged Nigerians to report any MRS filling station selling PMS above ₦739 per litre via its customer helpline.
“We urge Nigerians to avoid buying petrol at excessively high prices when locally refined PMS is available at ₦739 per litre at over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide,” the statement added.
Dangote Refinery reaffirmed its commitment to steady fuel supply, price stability and national energy security, stressing that its operations are driven by long-term national interest rather than short-term market pressures.
“Our objective remains to ensure consistent availability of high-quality petroleum products at affordable prices, while reducing import dependence and supporting economic stability,” the refinery said.
