Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, Dr. Chris Okafor, has demanded a DNA test from a woman, Ms. Chi Okafor, who has publicly claimed to be his biological daughter.
Speaking through his lawyer, Barrister Maxwell Opara, at a press conference held in Owerri on Wednesday, the cleric denied the paternity claim and issued a formal ultimatum requiring the woman to submit herself for a DNA test to verify her allegation.
Pastor Okafor also demanded an immediate retraction of all online publications linking him to the claims, as well as a public apology, warning that failure to comply would result in legal action.
According to his legal representative, the pastor is not the biological father of the woman or her sibling, asserting that both were allegedly products of infidelity involving his estranged wife.
Barrister Opara described the online publications attributed to Ms. Chi Okafor as false and defamatory, accusing her of cyberbullying, cyber harassment, criminal defamation, impersonation, and malicious misrepresentation.
“Any assertion that our client abandoned a spouse or children is false, misleading, and defamatory,” Opara stated.
He added that the continued presentation of the woman and her sibling as Pastor Okafor’s children amounts to libel and gross misrepresentation, which he said had caused reputational damage to the cleric and his ministry.
The legal team formally demanded:
Immediate retraction of all alleged defamatory statements and a written apology published in two national newspapers;
Removal of all content implying a familial relationship with the pastor;
Submission of the claimant and her sibling to a DNA test at a mutually agreed and reputable medical facility, particularly in the absence of any existing DNA evidence.
The lawyer warned that failure to meet these demands would compel the pastor to pursue all available legal remedies.
Pastor Okafor also cautioned certain social media personalities, including Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan) and Ms. Doris Ogala, to desist from amplifying what he described as false claims against him on their platforms.
The statement, according to the pastor’s legal team, was issued to clarify the facts, halt the spread of misinformation, and protect his personal integrity and ministerial reputation.
