The Nigerian Army has issued a stern warning against a fraudulent recruitment advertisement circulating on social media and other online platforms, which falsely claims that the Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 29 Application Form 2026 is available.
In a statement shared on the Army’s official X account, the acting Director of the Directorate of Army Public Relations, Anele Appolonia, described the advertisement as fake, misleading, and unauthorized. The Army stressed that no recruitment or commissioning exercise for the DSSC or Short Service Commission (SSC) has been announced.
The statement clarified that any official recruitment exercise will be communicated through verified Army channels, including the Nigerian Army website, official social media accounts, national newspapers, and other recognized platforms.
The Army also cautioned the public to remain vigilant against fraudsters who exploit fake recruitment notices to deceive and extort individuals, emphasizing that recruitment into the Nigerian Army is free of charge.
Members of the public who have information on such fraudulent activities are encouraged to report immediately to the nearest security agency or appropriate authorities. The Army reiterated its commitment to transparency and urged Nigerians to rely solely on official sources for updates on recruitment and other military activities.
