Zamfara Lawmaker Condoles Maru Community After Deadly Bandit Attack

The lawmaker representing Bungudu and Maru Federal Constituency, Abdulmalik Zubairu, has paid a condolence visit to Maru community in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State following a recent bandit attack that claimed lives and led to several abductions.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the attack resulted in the killing of many residents and the kidnapping of others, leaving the community in mourning.

In a statement issued in Gusau on Saturday, the lawmaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Aminu Lawal, said Zubairu visited Maru town to sympathise with the families of victims affected by the violent attack.

Zubairu described the incident as unfortunate and heartbreaking, noting that the persistent insecurity in the area has continued to inflict severe hardship on residents.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic events in Maru town. Only God knows how concerned I am about the suffering of the people I represent, particularly the devastating insecurity that continues to threaten lives and livelihoods,” he was quoted as saying.

The federal lawmaker pledged to continue working tirelessly to ensure improved security for his constituents and prayed for the repose of the souls of those killed, as well as the safe return of those abducted.

He also urged residents to cooperate with security agencies in the fight against banditry, stressing that community support is vital to restoring peace. Special prayers were offered during the visit for the return of stability to the area.

Meanwhile, Zubairu also attended the funeral prayer of the late District Head of Karakkai, Alhaji Muhammad Bello-Yusuf, who died after a brief illness.

While condoling with the bereaved family and community members, the lawmaker described the late traditional ruler as a dedicated leader whose contributions to community development would be remembered.

He noted that despite prevailing security challenges, the late district head remained committed to serving his people and supporting government initiatives.

Zubairu further extended his condolences to the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, and the entire Bungudu Emirate, praying for Allah’s forgiveness for the deceased and for his admission into Aljannah Firdaus.
