The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may not be able to return to power in the 2027 general elections due to what he described as poor leadership within the party.
Wike made the statement on Monday while speaking during his end-of-year media chat, where he criticised the PDP leadership for lacking focus, commitment, and openness to constructive suggestions.
According to him, the party’s current challenges are a result of leadership failures, stressing that strong and committed leadership is essential for any organisation to succeed.
Wike advised the opposition party to begin rebuilding immediately and shift its focus towards the 2031 elections, rather than allowing internal problems to destroy the party.
He noted that while winning elections is important, proper positioning, unity, and accountability are more critical for long-term success.
The former Rivers State governor maintained that PDP still has the capacity to return to power if its leaders show genuine commitment and are willing to make the right decisions.
He added that leadership plays a crucial role in both political parties and government, warning that poor decisions by leaders often lead to serious consequences.
