Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has signed the state’s ₦705 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, pledging full implementation and a continued focus on service delivery.
The signing ceremony, held on Monday, was attended by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun; the Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye; the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina; and members of the state executive council.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the 2026 budget is designed to consolidate and expand governance in line with his administration’s five-point development agenda.
Adeleke described the budget as marking the final year of his first term, noting that it reflects an expanded ambition to complete ongoing projects while initiating new ones. He said the administration has made significant progress over the past three years, laying a strong foundation for sustainable development.
According to the governor, his government has completed numerous abandoned projects, cleared substantial pension and salary arrears, and prioritised workers’ welfare through the payment of promotion arrears and long-overdue allowances.
He added that the administration has invested heavily in previously neglected sectors, including agricultural mechanisation, healthcare, education, road infrastructure, sports development, energy innovation, and climate change initiatives. Projects highlighted include the construction of over 250 kilometres of roads, multiple road dualisations across major towns, three flyover bridges to ease traffic congestion, school and hospital rehabilitation, and a new five-star stadium in Osogbo.
Speaking on the significance of the 2026 budget, Adeleke said it represents a year of consolidation and continuity, particularly as it coincides with an election year.
“2026 is a year of renewal and continuity. While we prepare for elections, governance must not suffer. We are committed to multitasking and ensuring that all programmes and projects are fully implemented,” he said.
The governor assured residents of Osun State that his administration would prioritise the welfare of the people, adhere strictly to budget timelines, and complete all ongoing projects and initiatives under the new Appropriation Act.
