A fire on Monday destroyed eight shops near the Sango Divisional Police Station in Ibadan, causing property losses estimated at millions of naira.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident, noting that thankfully, no lives were lost.
According to Akinwande, the fire service, in collaboration with officers from the Federal Fire Service, quickly responded to the blaze. “Upon arrival, we found eight out of eighty-four shops engulfed in flames. Firefighters promptly launched a coordinated operation to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby shops,” he said.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage.
