Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have launched a deadly attack on Zah and Mubang communities in Yadul, Garaha District of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State, killing at least 14 residents and injuring two others.
Residents told SaharaReporters that the attackers stormed the villages at about 6:16 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, unleashing violence that left both elders and youths dead. The assailants also set fire to food stores, shops, and other properties, further devastating the communities.
By Tuesday morning, locals were counting their losses as grief spread across the affected areas, with residents describing the attack as part of a persistent pattern of violence.
“This is not the first time we are experiencing this,” a resident said. “It has happened repeatedly over the years, yet no one has been held accountable.”
Zah and Mubang join several other communities in Yadul, Garaha District — including Dabna, Kopre, Kultha, and Kinging — that have suffered repeated attacks. Residents say the largely Christian farming settlements remain vulnerable, forcing many villagers to live as displaced persons despite remaining within their ancestral lands.
The latest assault has renewed anger over what residents describe as the government’s failure to provide adequate security.
“For how long will we continue to live like refugees in our own homes?” one resident asked. “Is the government not embarrassed by its inability to protect its citizens?”
Beyond the loss of lives, the attacks have severely disrupted livelihoods, particularly farming activities that sustain surrounding communities. Locals argue that keeping farmers in under-resourced displacement camps does not address the root of the crisis and worsens food insecurity.
Community leaders are calling for urgent and decisive security reforms, stressing that relief materials cannot replace safety.
“Security of lives and property must come first,” a resident said. “The authorities must strengthen security, close existing gaps, and bring an end to these attacks.”
As mourning continues, residents of Yadul, Garaha District, are urging the Federal Government to break the silence and take immediate action to prevent further bloodshed.
“Enough is enough,” they said. “The world needs to know what we are going through.”
