The driver of boxer Anthony Joshua, Kayode Adeniyi, may appear in court on Friday following a deadly car accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Shagamu.
Adeniyi is currently being questioned at Eleweran Police Station in Ogun State. An anonymous police officer said he is in stable condition and has provided his account of the crash. Charging decisions are expected within 48 hours, although the ongoing bank holiday could delay proceedings. Adeniyi faces two counts: reckless driving and manslaughter.
The accident occurred on Monday when the Lexus SUV carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck. Joshua, seated behind the driver, survived, but two men traveling with him died instantly. Eyewitness Adeniyi Orojo said the car had four occupants, including Joshua and his security detail in a separate vehicle behind them.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed the crash to excessive speed and wrongful overtaking.
