Over Multiple Rape Allegations: Embattled Pastor Chris Okafor Finally Surrenders to Police, to be Subjected to Rigorous grilling

The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has surrendered to the police in light of allegations involving multiple counts of rape and other offenses that could disrupt public peace.

The Legal Observer reports that the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed this development; the case has been assigned to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, stated in a television interview that when the cleric was invited, he communicated through his lawyer that he would appear on Monday.

The Legal Observer understands that the police chief mentioned that upon his failure to show up on Monday, an order for his arrest was issued. However, he did present himself on Tuesday, with the case now transferred to Zone 2 for a thorough investigation.

‘When he was invited, he got to us through his lawyer that he would be appearing on Monday. So, on Monday, we waited for him. We didn’t see him, and I directed that he should be arrested. Subsequently, he showed up yesterday (Tuesday). Yes, he showed up yesterday.’

As of the latest update, the case has been moved to Zone 2 for further inquiry, which the Assistant Inspector-General of Police confirmed.

“We later learned that the same matter had been opened at the Zone 2 headquarters, under the authority of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, which needed verification, and I confirmed that it is indeed under investigation for approximately three weeks now.

“The AIG holds a higher position than mine as a commander and is my immediate supervisor since he’s involved in the case. Consequently, we returned the matter to the Zone,” he explained.

The controversy erupted in mid-December 2025, with various allegations against Okafor emerging online. Notably, Nollywood actress Doris Ogala accused the pastor of a long-term sexual relationship dating back to 2017.

The actress alleged that Okafor broke marriage promises, shared explicit content, and played a role in the dissolution of her previous marriage. Amid the escalating public outcry, Okafor reportedly addressed his congregation on December 28, 2025, apologizing for past mistakes and kneeling at the pulpit to seek forgiveness.”
