The federal government has proposed an allocation of N7 billion for the installation of solar energy systems at the State House in the 2026 appropriation bill.
The budget proposal also makes provision for N2.5 billion to purchase operational vehicles, alongside N768.9 million earmarked for the replacement of sport utility vehicles (SUVs).
President Bola Tinubu presented the N58.18 trillion 2026 federal budget to the National Assembly on December 19, 2025, after it was approved by the Federal Executive Council. The Senate passed the bill for second reading on December 23, 2025.
In addition to these allocations, the government set aside N283.85 billion for the logistics and management of the presidential air fleet, which also covers operational support for the national forest guard initiative.
The presidential air fleet comprises aircraft used by the president and other senior government officials for official duties. In the 2023 supplementary budget, N12.7 billion was allocated for the fleet.
The forest guard programme, coordinated by the Department of State Services in collaboration with the National Park Service and supported by the Ministry of Environment, is aimed at securing forest areas, addressing insecurity and protecting host communities. In December 2025, about 7,000 newly recruited forest guards from seven frontline states completed a three-month intensive training programme.
Overall, the 2026 appropriation bill allocates N5.41 trillion to defence and security, representing about 9.3 per cent of the total proposed expenditure.
