FG Rallies Support for Super Eagles Ahead of AFCON Semi-Final Clash with Morocco

The Federal Government has urged the Super Eagles to approach their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final match against Morocco with confidence, unity, and determination.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, said the entire country is firmly behind the national team as they prepare for the crucial encounter.

Idris praised the Super Eagles for their discipline, courage, and belief throughout the tournament, noting that their performances have once again reminded Nigerians why the team remains one of Africa’s most respected football sides.

“As you prepare to face Morocco in the AFCON semi-finals, I want you to know that the whole of Nigeria stands firmly with you,” the minister said.

He reminded the players that they have previously risen to similar challenges, stressing that Nigeria’s past AFCON successes were built on teamwork, confidence, and fighting spirit.

“Those victories were not accidental; they came from unity, confidence, and resilience — qualities you have displayed in this tournament,” Idris added.

The minister said the players carry the hopes and prayers of millions of Nigerians as they take to the pitch, urging them to play with the confidence of champions and the unity of brothers.

“Stay focused, trust one another, and give your best from the first whistle to the final whistle,” he said.

Idris expressed confidence in the team’s ability to progress further in the competition, urging them to write another proud chapter in Nigeria’s football history.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Morocco on Wednesday night at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with kick-off set for 9:00 pm Nigerian time.

Meanwhile, Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has promised to reward the Super Eagles with a $500,000 donation if they secure victory against Morocco. Rabiu made the pledge following Nigeria’s quarter-final win over Algeria.
