Netanyahu Apologises to Qatar Over Hamas Strikes

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has apologised to Qatar’s Prime Minister for recent strikes targeting Hamas in the Gulf nation. The apology came during a Monday phone call from the White House, according to a diplomat who spoke to AFP on condition of anonymity.

Netanyahu expressed regret over the breach of Qatari sovereignty and the death of a Qatari security guard during the September 9 attack in Doha. The strike had targeted Hamas leaders who were set to discuss a US ceasefire proposal for Gaza.

Earlier, Netanyahu had shown no remorse for the operation. However, US President Donald Trump, who maintains close ties with Qatar, had expressed displeasure over the attack and has been pushing for a renewed truce in Gaza.
