More than 100 church worshippers have been abducted after suspected bandits carried out coordinated attacks on several churches in the Kurmin Wali area of Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
The attack occurred on Sunday while church services were ongoing. According to sources with relatives among the victims, the assailants stormed the churches and forcefully took congregants away.
It was gathered that the attackers later released about ten vulnerable individuals, while the whereabouts of the remaining abductees remain unknown.
Security agencies and relevant authorities have been alerted, and efforts are reportedly underway to respond to the incident as more details emerge.
Kaduna State has continued to witness repeated attacks by armed groups. In a related incident earlier this month, bandits reportedly killed four members of a family during a night attack in Kachia, Southern Kaduna, leaving several others injured.
Residents of affected communities have expressed fear and concern over the persistent insecurity in the area, despite the presence of nearby institutions and security formations.
