Speaker of the House, Abass, has urged Nigerians to focus on building a brighter future as the country celebrates its 65th Independence Day. In a message signed by his media aide, Leke Baiyewu, the Speaker highlighted Nigeria’s progress through a complex history and expressed confidence that the nation is poised for greater unity and prosperity.
Acknowledging the country’s abundant human and natural resources, Speaker Abass called on all stakeholders to work together toward creating “a nation of our dreams, regardless of religious, ethnic, or political differences.” He also praised the ongoing Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as a path that keeps Nigeria on course toward growth.
The Speaker expressed optimism that Nigeria will continue to assert its role as the Giant of Africa and reclaim its status as the continent’s largest economy. While acknowledging existing security and socio-economic challenges, he encouraged Nigerians to remain resilient, law-abiding, patriotic, and prayerful.
He further assured citizens that the 10th House of Representatives is committed to delivering accountable leadership, good governance, and tangible dividends of democracy, particularly at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to deliver a nationwide broadcast at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, marking the Independence Day anniversary. According to Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the address will be covered live by media outlets, including the news blog The Legal Observer.
