The acting Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarrett Tenebe, has sparked outrage after allegedly threatening a Facebook user who criticized Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The victim, Blessing P. Agho, shared screenshots of a message in which Tenebe reportedly wrote:
“Your death is close. You are a bastard, just show where you are if you can. Death awaits you, idiot. Send me your address or come out to Wuse 2 in front of Atiku’s campaign office at 9pm tomorrow.”
In a post on her social media account, Agho condemned the threat, questioning how Tenebe “ended up becoming a state chairman” and calling on the governor to hold him accountable.
The incident has drawn widespread criticism online, with many users demanding that the police investigate and question the APC chairman.
This is not the first time Tenebe has made controversial statements. In a video from the ‘Edo State City Boy Employment 2025’ event, he pledged the party’s unwavering loyalty to Governor Okpebholo and President Bola Tinubu, describing the party as “like a vehicle with no gear, descending” to illustrate its obedience to the governor’s directives.
“Anything the governor tells us to do, we cannot argue, because he has all the special advisers and all the special assistance,” Tenebe said.
“The governor has already told us that 3.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu must be guaranteed and is already settled.”
The threats against Agho have reignited debates about political accountability, freedom of expression, and the conduct of party officials in Edo State, with civil society groups urging authorities to take action.
