Former Sports Minister Solomon Dalung has described President Bola Tinubu as a “dwarf” in Nigeria’s political history, arguing that he should not be compared with past great leaders like Sardauna Ahmadu Bello and Obafemi Awolowo.
Speaking on Channels Television on Sunday, Dalung criticized Tinubu’s performance on the national stage, saying that while the president is regarded as a political strategist, his strategies have not translated into meaningful improvements in the economy, security, or public welfare.
“Great leaders build legacies and serve the people. Tinubu cannot manage insecurity, the economy, or even basic palliative schemes. Corruption is flourishing and the economy is in shambles,” Dalung said.
The former minister also stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is prepared to challenge Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, emphasizing that the party will hold a transparent primary to select a candidate to oppose him.
Dalung, who served as minister from 2015 to 2019 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, insisted that the focus should be on leaders who deliver tangible results rather than relying solely on political reputation.
