Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is well-positioned to emerge as a formidable opposition capable of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Atiku, in a statement shared on his X handle on Saturday, described the ADC as a party grounded in strong ideals, solid structure and determination to provide credible leadership.
He expressed confidence that the party has evolved into what he termed Nigeria’s “true opposition,” ready to challenge the APC at the polls.
The former presidential candidate also revealed that he received members and stakeholders of the ADC from Adamawa State at his Abuja residence on Friday.
He described the visit as encouraging and urged the party’s state leadership to prioritise unity and inclusiveness.
According to him, leaders must work towards reconciling aggrieved members, fostering cohesion and ensuring fairness in their dealings.
Atiku emphasised that internal harmony would be critical to strengthening the party ahead of future electoral contests.
