The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially approved the introduction of 13 new degree programmes across various Nigerian universities. This move aims to broaden academic offerings and enhance the quality of higher education in the country.
According to the circular released by the commission and signed by the Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, it announced the addition of the programmes to the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) in a circular addressed to all vice-chancellors.
The newly approved programmes span undergraduate and graduate levels, aligning with Nigeria’s educational goals to meet global standards and cater to the evolving demands of the labor market. These additions are part of ongoing efforts by NUC to ensure Nigerian universities remain competitive and relevant in today’s knowledge-driven economy.
According to the NUC, the newly approved programmes include Artificial Intelligence, Classical Christian Education, Human Kinetics with a focus on sport management, Geomatics Engineering, and Community Health Science.
