Nigerian Air Force Carries Out Airstrikes on Terrorist Hideouts in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under Operation Hadin Kai, has carried out coordinated airstrikes on terrorist locations in Borno State, targeting identified hideouts within the Timbuktu Triangle.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation followed credible, multi-source intelligence confirming the presence of terrorists, operational structures, and concealed logistics facilities in the area known as Abbaga Jiri.

Ejodame explained that NAF air assets were deployed for integrated intelligence, surveillance, and precision strike missions aimed at neutralising the identified targets. He noted that the operation was carefully planned to degrade terrorist capabilities, deny them safe havens, and support advancing ground troops, while strictly adhering to rules of engagement and the protection of civilians.

According to the statement, the airstrikes successfully destroyed key terrorist structures and disrupted the movement of armed elements observed converging on the location. Subsequent advances by ground forces reportedly confirmed the effectiveness of the strikes and the success of the joint air and land operation.

Commenting on the development, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the mission demonstrated the Air Force’s continued commitment to delivering precise and decisive airpower in support of troops on the ground. He stressed that NAF would continue to deny terrorists freedom of movement, logistics, and sanctuary wherever they operate.

Aneke reaffirmed that all NAF operations remain intelligence-driven and carefully executed to ensure maximum impact on hostile elements while safeguarding innocent civilians. He added that sustained pressure would be maintained until terrorist networks are fully dismantled.

The latest operation comes weeks after similar airstrikes conducted in December 2025 in Zamfara State, where NAF targeted bandit camps in Tsafe Local Government Area following credible intelligence on criminal activities in the region.
