Abdulrahman Mohammed has been elected as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the party’s national convention held on Sunday in Abuja.
Mohammed, along with other members of the party’s newly constituted National Working Committee (NWC), was chosen through consensus votes to steer the party for the next four years.
The chairman of the Convention Electoral Committee, Sandy Onor, announced the new NWC members. They include Aaron Chukwuemeka as deputy national chairman (South), Yusufu Akirikwen as deputy national chairman (North), Samuel Anyanwu as national secretary, Kolawole Olabisi as deputy national secretary, Diran Odeyemi as national treasurer, and Lado Mark as deputy national treasurer.
Other appointments are Eyim Henry, national financial secretary; Grema Kyari, deputy national financial secretary; Umar Bature, national organising secretary; Efere Augustine, deputy national organising secretary; Jungudo Mohammed, national publicity secretary; Egwu Chidiebere, deputy national publicity secretary; Kamaldeen Ajibade, national legal adviser; and Aloysius Uba, deputy national legal adviser.
In the party’s audit and representation positions, Osuoha Donatus was elected national auditor, Adaba Yatu deputy national auditor, Ogunshe Adedayo national woman leader, Hauwa Shinge deputy national woman leader, Ibrahim Aboki national youth leader, and Momoh Bashir deputy national youth leader.
The new leadership team was immediately sworn in following the announcement.
In his acceptance speech, Mohammed pledged to uphold the party’s values and promised that the NWC would work to foster unity and reposition the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
