LP Offers Otti Free Re-Election Forms, Fixes Presidential Ticket at ₦50m

The Labour Party (LP) has granted Abia State Governor Alex Otti free expression of interest and nomination forms for his second-term bid, while setting its presidential nomination cost at ₦50 million.

In a statement, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, released the timetable for the 2026 primary elections. He said the sale of nomination forms will run from May 6 to May 16, with submission scheduled for May 17 and 18.

Screening of aspirants will take place on May 20 for state positions and May 22 for national offices, while appeals will follow shortly after. Primaries are scheduled for May 27 (state positions) and May 29 (national positions).

The party fixed the presidential expression of interest form at ₦10 million and the nomination form at ₦40 million. Governorship forms cost ₦25 million, senate ₦10 million, house of representatives ₦5 million, and state assembly ₦3 million.

However, the party said Otti would receive his forms free of charge in recognition of his performance as governor and his contribution to the party’s image.

The LP also announced concessions for women, youths aged 25 to 30, and persons with disabilities, who will only pay for expression of interest forms.

Aspirants were advised to complete their membership registration before the May 4 deadline ahead of submission to the electoral body.
