A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, has dragged the ruling party and some of its senior officials before a Federal High Court in Abuja over his alleged exclusion from the race for the position of National Vice Chairman (South-South).
Dagogo, in the suit filed before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, accused the party of sidelining him despite allegedly spending over N100m in pursuit of his political ambition under the APC platform.
The aggrieved aspirant claimed that he duly paid for the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms but was denied access to the forms ahead of the party’s national convention.
According to court documents, Dagogo alleged that after making the required payments on March 13, 2026, he visited the APC national secretariat to obtain the nomination forms but was informed that the forms were no longer available.
He accused some party officials of deliberately frustrating his participation in the contest over fears that he could defeat the incumbent officeholder.
“You cannot discard me after I spent over N100 million pursuing this ambition,” Dagogo was quoted as saying in the suit.
The aspirant listed the APC, its National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, National Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, and National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, as defendants in the matter.
Dagogo is seeking a court order nullifying the outcome of any South-South zonal congress conducted without his participation.
He is also demanding N100m as damages for alleged embarrassment, emotional distress and mental torture caused by the actions of the party and its officials.
However, the APC, through its legal team, urged the court to dismiss the suit, arguing that the matter bordered on the internal affairs of the party and was therefore not subject to judicial intervention.
The case is expected to further heighten tensions within the ruling party ahead of its national convention and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
